Once Upon A Christmas Forenoon
Once upon a Christmas forenoon
Clustered steaks with savory scent
Maladic thirst and stupor swoon
All overshadowing like a jolly tent.
Visitors visiting with giftless gifts
Juxtaposed thoughts of goodwill and malevolence
Sifted through countenance and words.
Jollof, fried and ofada rice
Vociferating their loyalty in festive times
When Amala, eba, Semo and Iyan
Run out of stock before the end of the day.
Once Upon a Christmas forenoon,
A time we edify the physical and forget the spiritual
The reason for the season becomes abandoned
As we hide under the pretence of celebration.
